Emery's Catering Service Inc Company History

Emery's Catering Service was founded in Pawtucket ,Rhode Island in 1970, by Richard and Florence Emery. As the legend goes, Richard and Florence volunteered to cook a New Years Eve dinner for their son's Cub Scout Troop, of over a hundred people. Richard was always eager to please people, so he set out to create a grand celebration meal that he was sure people would enjoy. Enjoy they did, the meal was so delicious, people couldn't stop talking about it. As the phone calls started pouring in, Richard saw a catering opportunity for him and his family.

Emery's Catering was born in the fall of 1970 in the remains of a small cafeteria in the Pine Street mills of Pawtucket. Richard worked hard to please his customers and perfect his recipes (the same recipes we use today) and the business soon outgrew it's humble home. In 1973 the business was moved to 173 Lonsdale avenue in Pawtucket, a significantly larger building. In 1991 a booming economy gave Richard, Florence, and their children, Rick, Donna, Rob, and Dave the push they needed to buy an even bigger building. 24 Central Street became the new home of Emery's Catering, a building that formerly housed the August Bakery. Ironically, Richard and Florence had both worked at the August Bakery as young adults, In fact it is where they met for the first time.

The children of Richard and Florence were just as eager as Richard himself, and the company was doing well. So well that in 1994 Richard and his family decided to expand again. There were many directions they could have chosen, but they wanted to stay close to home, and they had a long-standing record of good business with a local banquet facility. That facility was the LeFoyer Club and it seemed to be the clear choice, so on Febuary 7th they purchased the club.

By 1997, Emery's Catering had developed an outstanding reputation for customer service and quality products throughout Rhode Island and Massachusett. Their reputation preceded them, and reached the likes of Delta Airlines. Delta was unhappy with their current food service on their aircraft at T.F. Green Airport. When they started shopping for a new company to cater their airlines, Emery's was their obvious choice. The airline division was created on December 7, 1997, and a year later that division was moved to a building in Warwick on West Shore road two miles away from the airport. After receiving several awards for service and satisfaction from Delta, other airlines jumped onboard and Emery's Catering is now the exclusive catering company for inflight food at T.F. Green Airport.

Since then, the Company has thrived, the Spirit and good sense Richard and Florence taught their children has endured, and the company has a bright future.
